AEO- Authorized Economic Operator
Gerlach follows the implementation of the AEO actively and will be glad to provide you with an advice on the actual state of play.
An Authorized Economic Operator has a special status: He is seen as very reliable and trustworthy and therefore can claim special advantages within the framework of customs clearances.
The increasing globalization and the changed international security situation made the World Customs Organization (WCO) decide to prepare a Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade (SAFE) in order to provide basic global conditions for a modern and effective risk management within the customs authorities.
As of 1 January 2008 companies with a domicile in the European Union and which take part in customs declarations can apply for this status. The status authorizes to preferences in case of security related customs inspections and to simplifications according to the customs regulations.
Aim is to secure the international supply chain from the producer of the goods up to the final consumer.
